Past Few Weeks
First of all I want to apologize for not getting as many updates out as I would have liked to. To be honest I have been struggling with my game a bit and all the travel has been quite overwhelming and I haven’t been in a good frame of mind to be putting out updates. However, I am going to change this and really try to hold myself accountable to bring more updates and bring you guys along on this journey with me like I said I would. I have been working really hard on my mindset as this is something I am going to be doing for the rest of my life and I do believe it is a choice to be grateful for what I am able to do and reframe the way I look at the opportunity I have.
The SDC Championship was my last event on the DP World Tour where I finished -5 in my last 6 holes to miss the cut by 1. I then flew home where I was going to take a couple weeks off but I felt as though my game was really close and I wanted to try and play myself into some form as this is what I’ve done every other time I’ve been going through rough patches in my game. I played some solid golf in the NZ PGA, especially the first 2 rounds where my ball-striking was beginning to feel how it used to. However, I had a tough Saturday and Sunday, ultimately finishing in a tie for 6th.
I wasn’t going to play the NZ Strokeplay either but it wasn’t looking promising for me to get into the Porsche Singapore Classic so I thought, why not? Paraparaumu is a great track and it would give me another opportunity to hit some golf shots in a tournament setting and find some feels moving into India. I was really happy with how I struck the ball last week and it was probably the best I’ve felt with an iron in my hands for a long time which was exciting. I struggled on the greens a bit and finished in a tie for 6th again, obviously, I was looking for more than this but there were glimpses of good golf in there again.
I’m in Singapore a the moment and unfortunately I didn’t get in the field this week for the tournament. I was 2nd reserve a the beginning of the week and someone pulled out early Thursday morning which meant that I went to 1st reserve. I hung around all day but no one else withdrew which meant that I didn’t get a start in the tournament which is less than ideal but it’s not the worst place to be for an off week, I can still practice, which is good prep heading into India.
I fly out to India on Sunday night for the Hero Indian Open. My game feels good and I’m slowly getting my mindset in a better place to play tournament golf. Again, I’m sorry for the lack of updates but I am going to put more effort into this side of it and hold myself more accountable.
Thank you everyone for the support, it means a lot.
